Network Edge
Purpose-built edge devices such as firewalls, routers and VPN boxes can be installed to most networks. The function of these devices is simple.
- To control what is allowed to go in and out of your network preventing viruses and malicious hackers from gaining access to your systems
- To provide a first level line of defence against viruses and spyware
- To restrict which websites and Internet services that your staff are able to access
- To allow authorised remote users to connect into your systems securely

Inside your Network
As network security systems evolve, so do threats to your I.T. systems. You cannot always stop someone accidentally opening a virus or bringing one in on a pen drive or floppy disk and bypassing your network edge security devices. As a result it is critical that all your systems are properly protected to prevent a single case of infection spreading round your entire network.
Southport Computers can provide you with security policies and software along with emergency backup and recovery procedures to address threats such as viruses, spyware and simple mistakes.

Physical Security
An often overlooked factor in security is direct physical access to your systems. If an unauthorised user can gain access to your premises, they may be able to gain direct access to sensitive information without any record of who they are. Passwords can provide limited security which can be extended with other services.
- Secure computer housing to prevent theft
- Smart cards to provide an additional authentication and identification mechanism for users
- Encryption software and keys for mobile users to prevent data compromise

Network CCTV
Southport Computers can supply and install office surveillance using indoor and outdoor network cameras from Axis Communications. These cameras provide high quality intelligent footage which can be recorded onto normal tapes or stored digitally so that you do not have to rely on constantly changing tapes or running tapes in low quality mode because you cannot change the tape often enough.
Network cameras can interface directly with a wide range of trigger mechanisms to allow the camera to respond to external events and control external devices. Such mechanisms provide facilities such as sound and motion detection and enable the camera to automatically activate devices such as lights and alarms.

Secure remote access enables authorised users to access recorded footage and from anywhere in the world or alternatively empowers you to restrict access to specific locations. With this remote access, the user may optionally control and configure the camera or any connected trigger devices providing features not available with traditional network surveillance solutions.
Additional solutions are available for new and existing systems to extend current functionality. Please use the details on our about us page to enquire about how Southport Computers can secure you.
